Going is the Mission

Bloganuary writing prompt
What is your mission?

What is my mission? I think this is something I struggled with for entirely too long. What is my mission in life? Is there a clear mission for each individual person who walks the face of this earth? Could my mission to be some super secret spy that lives a double life? What about being some super smart mathematician that wrote the perfect formula to predict EVERY prime number. As I got older, and my walk with the Lord matured, my mission became clear. Here are just a few verses that have helped shape my mission.

Matthew 28:18-20- And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

John 3:30- He must increase, but I must decrease.

Acts 20:24-  But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

Because I know Christ, I must live to make His name known great among the nations. I must continually learn what it means for me to decrease so that He can increase. My life means nothing if I do not obediently and faithfully follow His calling.

My mission is clear. Love God, follow His commands, and tell everyone who will listen the Gospel. Right now that means living overseas, teaching English, and fighting off staph infections. Next year the actions of my mission may look different, but the mission remains the same. The perfect ending to this is a quote by C.T Studd “Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.”
