Daily Writing Prompt #1

Daily writing prompt
What do you enjoy most about writing?

What do I enjoy most about writing? If I’m honest, this is a question I never thought I would be answering. I got a degree in math because it involved the least amount of reading and writing. So the fact I now enjoy writing and do it for fun, is slightly humorous to me. I don’t know that there is one specific thing that I enjoy most about writing. I think it’s a collection of things that makes it enjoyable for me.

Everyone has a story to share, right? I think that’s one of the reasons I like writing. I can share my story. I can write about how my relationship with God changed my life. I can share how He continually keeps molding and transforming me into the person He’s called me to be. I’m not ashamed of the gospel and how it changed my life, and I love sharing about what He’s doing and what He’s done. I can write about my struggle with mental health. I can write about sibling loss- something that I personally feel like gets overlooked in the grief community.

I’m an overthinker. Sometimes my brain never shuts up. It doesn’t stop thinking. Processing. What iffing. Writing has given me an outlet to help process some of the chaos in my head. I can pick a topic, or find a writing prompt, and write about it until my mind settles down.

So while writing is something I never thought I’d enjoy doing, here I am typing another blog post out. I’m grateful how writing has helped my healing process. How it has helped me share my story. How it has helped me process the nonsense in my head. I don’t know how long I’ll keep writing, but for now, it brings me joy, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my story.
