I think a question to pair with the one above is “Who gives you direction in life?”
“Who gives you direction in life?” – This could be several different answers, right? My therapist. My pastor. My professors. My parents. A lot of people have given my life direction over the years.
What gives you direction? Again, several different answers could be given. My ethnic background. My dreams and desires. My degree field. The college I choose.
There are so many things that we can let give our life direction. Ultimately though, we should be getting our direction for God and His Holy Word. If you are a believer, scripture is clear that your life is no longer your own. You no longer live for earthly or fleshly desires. You walk according what the Bible says. The direction my life is heading right now is a result of several things I’ve read in scripture.
My desire is to know Him better and make His name known great among the nation. The direction I’m heading is that I would live a life worthy of the gospel and would unashamed of it. I want to be different. I want to love well. I want to help others. I want to consider my life worth nothing if I can only finish the race and complete the task the Lord has given to me (Acts 20:24).
A lot of things in this world will try to give your life direction. Be wise. Don’t let foolish things give your life direction and purpose. Look to the one who made you, loves you, and sent His son to die for you for the direction of your life. He made you with a purpose- you were made with a direction already. Seek Him. Read His Word. Let God and His Holy Word be your source of direction.
